The gardens at Emo Court are 35 hectares of magnificent naturalistic landscaped grounds and they have been brought back to the splendor of their past, with formal areas, woodland walks, abundant statuary and a 20-acre lake - and essential feature of neoclassical landscape design. The gardens are divided into two main areas; The Clucker which contains rare specimen trees and shrubs, this part of the garden is at its best in late spring and The Grapery which is an arboretum through which wind a series of pathway, each opening to vistas across the surrounding Slieve Bloom Mountains or towards the house; this is a marvelous place to visit in autumn especially when it is a blaze of dramatic colours.
The Slieve Bloom Mountains are breathtaking. They rise steeply from the surrounding plain, covering an area of 600 square miles and offer mysterious glens, rivers, waterfalls, historic sites, folklore, villages, pubs and festivals. The most famous walk is the 20-mile Slieve Boom Way. Choose from a variety of walks, eco trails, short and long loops, forest paths and the Slieve Bloom Way. Walking is truly the best way to fully absorb the beauty of the county.
